Do you need to stop smoking? Are you a long time smoker that has reached that point in your life where you want to stop smoking?

If you have smoked for any length of time and have tried to quit only to go for a short time with out smoking then you know the frustration of trying to stop smoking all those many times only to be smoking once again.

How many times have you been topld that the habit is a personal decision, and it all depends on will power, and what level of abstinence can be practiced in order to stop smoking.

I am here to say bullshit. After smoking for 45 years and trying to stop smoking many times, I can tell you it is more then a personal decision. Smoking is an addictive habit, one that once you are hooked on can be harder then many street drugs to quit.

People take to smoking for various reasons. It could be the sheer charm of smoking, joining a group, beating stress, soothing and calming nerves, and so on. The reasons for quitting are commonly health related.

There does not seem to be a trick in quitting a habit. It is easy to fall back and start all over again. Perhaps a slow and steady approach can do the trick when more severe methods have failed.

Here are a few words to guide and reaffirm your determination to quit smoking if you wish to do so:

1. If you keep failing, have faith in yourself. You can do it, if others have done it before.

2. It is important to remind yourself of the reasons you want to quit smoking. Write them down and read them regularly.

3. Seek help from others around, the ones you trust, in talking to you about quitting. When others persuade us, it may work better for some.

4. There are medical substitutes available that help people climb down on the amounts.

5. Setting a deadline by the end of which one must quit can help in some cases.

6. Find out which plan works best for you – an immediate stop, a gradual pulling out, or some combination.

7. Knowing and talking to people who have quit smoking can boost your morale.

8. Smoking could be related to poor health and regimen. Change your regimen and see if it can substitute for the need to smoke.

9. Visualize the lifestyle of a non-smoker, and find out why it is positive and good. This will increase the attraction toward the goal.

We have all seen them in the store: those kids that are just terrorizing the heck out of their poor mother, who is looking frazzled and worn surrounded by her nagging, misbehaving brood of children.

Many of us might sympathize while others might think to themselves, ‘that will never be me.’ It is all too easy for well-behaved babies to turn into poorly behaved children and poorly behaved children face possible legal and social problems in their adult lives.

1. Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child? Take it or Leave It!

Many say that children who do not receive corporal punishment cannot know the discipline of real life, and will end up as poorly behaved adolescents and maladjusted adults.

Nobody wants their child to have to go through legal problems or problems with their peers at work or school, but it is up to the individual to decide whether or not the actions of your child merit spankings.

What is important is that whatever method you choose to discipline your child, you also express to them the reasons why they are being disciplined and be clear on the fact that their offense was not okay, and that certain things will not be tolerable in the eyes of society.

2. Let Them Know That You Care (Or At Least Act Like It)

Every parent knows that it can be rather difficult at times to provide a roof to go over your child’s head and food for them to eat while still managing to have a real ‘family dinner’ every night with the whole family around.

Frankly, sometimes it is just not possible but it is important to at least try. Take as active a part in your child’s life as you possibly can. Try and understand what their day is like and talk to them about the things they have done during the day.

If they know that you care and they understand that there are consequences for their actions they are more likely to make better decisions.

3. Mean What You Say…and Say What You Mean

If you tell your son or daughter that bad grades means no Playstation, make sure that you follow through on that. Bad behavior leads to consequences and those consequences must be what you say they will be.

If you tell them one thing and do another, your credibility is destroyed and eventually your child will learn not to take you seriously.

Encourage good behavior in your child, and let them know that you expect that of them and nothing else. Society expects your child to fear the consequences of poor behavior and so should a parent.

It is not always easy to raise well-adjusted children and any parent can testify to that. Misbehavior is common and not all kids will be well-behaved all the time; what is important is teaching your child that their actions have consequences and that you as a parent care about the way that those consequences affect their well-being.

Let us face the facts: nobody ever wants to deal with aging issues as related to themselves or other people. We do not want to see ourselves age or the people around us, but aging is something that is natural and essential in life and without aging, the world cannot continue.

1.Aging Gracefully Let the Fat GO!

It is important to remember that as we get older, fat becomes less and less of a friend to us. The things that once passed right through can be mortal enemies to some people as they get older, and fat is harder to fight off the older you get.

Instead of picking up potato chips and dip in the aisle, pick up some carrot sticks or popcorn or another low fat, healthy alternative to snacking. Just because you are getting older does not mean that your desire to snack will go down, but your appetite should change and you do not have to let it get you down.

As you get older, it is time to take care of your body better than you ever have before, if nothing else.

2.Aging Gracefully Get Moving

Staying in movement is one of the more popular ways of aging gracefully; proper exercise has actually been known to help slow down the aging process as it is.

Exercising two to three times a week is good to start, but make sure that as you are exercising you are also eating and fueling your body with the proper nutrients to help you get through your day.

Weight training and cardio exercises are the best way to get the heart and muscles into great shape, and it can also trim and shape your body so you can keep as much of your 20-year old figure as you possibly can, and look and feel younger at the same time.

If you look younger, you will feel younger and if you feel younger you will BE younger--it is just a fact of life.

3.Aging Gracefully Laugh and Love

Just because you are getting older does not mean that life is not supposed to be fun for you anymore. If you are not doing so already, resolve to spend more times with the people in your life that you truly love and care about and do the things that make you happy.

The happier you are, the longer you will live--it is a proven fact. Perhaps finding a romantic relationship will make you happier; maybe even getting cat or a dog to keep you company will bring you happiness as well. Whatever it is, do what makes you happy now more than ever.

Aging does not have to be about diapers and wrinkles; the older you get the wiser you get, right? Aging is about reaching a new and exciting stage in your life rather than leaving one, and perhaps looking at it like that will help matters even if just a little.

2. Make A Set Plan For Charities
